This Week on Proto Blast #57
Hello, everybody! :)
Continuing the work from the previous week, I worked on the boss mechanism of the fourth level. And finally the flipper works! :D
Explaining the issue isn't that easy, though. It turned out that it is not a matter of "the collision with the second pointer is not working" as I thought before. On one value of the object's (fourth boss') variable, the collision works, but not on another value. Since that value is used to control the state of the sprite (being flipped horizontally or not), I tried to work on the commands by directly altering the state of the sprite itself instead of the variable, but it still behaved the same :(
Here's how I intend it to work:
When the boss is in collision with the flipper:
- if the variable value is 0, change it to 1
- if the variable value is 1, change it to 0
Since those method failed, I used this instead:
When the boss is in collision with the flipper:
- do +1 to the value of the variable
And if the value is > 1, change it to 0
And it works :D
FINALLY!
The boss can now move as intended.. until its supposed special ability/action is implemented XD
Testing the 4th Boss Area!
Being able to move properly is not the only thing I wanted from the boss. It's got to have a special move. But when it is active, it breaks the movement X_x
Well, I'm considering to change its special move to something that doesn't disturb its movement pattern, but I don't know if it is the best yet.
So, yeah, the development of this level is dragged to another week again, I know. But, well, I think that's all for now. Stay tuned :)
